Recertification Process

Every candidate who has achieved the credentials from SCRUM Body by achieving the certification at any level will have to renew their credentials every three years. You will receive a reminder email from our certification team 90 days before your certification expires.

Renewals automatically includes renewal of all lower-level certifications.

Ways to renew your credentials

You can renew your certification after the renewal period by paying the renewal fees. Also, you need to achieve professional credit points for renewal of your credentials.

• Category A: Authorized Trainer

You can achieve professional credit points by coaching and mentoring. You can become a Trainer and attend professional credit points by conducting trainings as an Authorized Trainer.

You can claim 20 professional credit points after delivering training for a batch conducted by Authorized Training Organization as an Authorized Trainer.

• Category B: Attend Training

You can achieve professional credit points by attending trainings relevant in the field of project management and IT service management.  You can attend internal or external trainings been conducted by Authorized training organizations or corporates.

You can claim maximum 20 professional credit points per professional training attended, depending on the duration and relevancy of topic. SCRUM body certification team has full authority to scrutinize the trainings. You can claim the professional credit points and the certification team will scrutinize and will get back to you within 15 working days.

You can claim maximum 5 credit points per internal training attended in your organization, depending on the duration and relevancy of topic.  SCRUM body certification team has full authority to scrutinize the trainings. You can claim the professional credit points and the certification team will scrutinize and will get back to you within 15 working days.

There is no limit on number of professional credit points that you can claim under this category. In case of audit, you will have to submit valid proof and claims supporting your claim of points.

• Category C: Mentor

You can mentor your colleagues, friends, etc on SCRUM methodology and claim professional credit points.

Maximum points that you can claim as a Mentor is 5 per year. In case of audit, you will have to submit valid proof and claims supporting your claim of points.

• Category D: Scrum Body Events

You can claim 5 points for every event been organized by SCRUM Body. These events include:

• Live training sessions organized by SCRUM Body
• Participating in SCRUM community by adding articles or discussions
• Attending conferences been conducted by SCRUM Body or any other project management body
  

There is no limit on number of professional credit points that you can claim under this category. In case of audit, you will have to submit valid proof and claims supporting your claim of points.

• Category E: Volunteer Service

You can claim professional credit points by providing non-compensated, non-commercial professional services for SCRUM community. SCRUM Body always seeks for ways that you give back to the SCRUM community. You can contact our certification team at exams@scrumbody.org to contribute as a volunteer to our SCRUM community. You will be sent an application form which has to be duly filled by the volunteer along with the NDA form. You can then contribute towards the SCRUM community and claim points. You can claim 1 point per hour that you contribute towards the SCRUM community.

The ways by which you can contribute can be:

• Work as an Auditor with SCRUM body
• Audit organizations who are under renewal for SCRUM Compliant OrganizationsTM credentials
• Write case studies, whitepapers or scenarios for SCRUM body

There is no limit on number of professional credit points that you can claim under this category. In case of audit, you will have to submit valid proof and claims supporting your claim of points.

• Category F: Donate Points

You can donate your professional credit points to anyone who applies for renewal. You are allowed to donate your points only if your credential is in good standing and you have enough credentials to get recertified.

You can claim maximum 10 professional credit points that you can claim under this category. In case of audit, you will have to submit valid proof and claims supporting your claim of points.

• Category G: Professional work experience

You can claim your professional credit points if you are part of the SCRUM environment. Even if you are a SCRUM developer, SCRUM, Master or SCRUM Product Owner you can claim 10 professional credit points per year.

You can claim maximum 10 professional credit points that you can claim under this category. SCRUM body certification team has full authority to scrutinize your application form. You can claim the professional credit points and the certification team will scrutinize and will get back to you within 15 working days. In case of audit, you will have to submit valid proof and claims supporting your claim of points.
